My husband John and I have both really benefited from PACE. Before we moved here I had a string of unfortunate health problems and also had no health insurance. I became very weak, depressed and ended up needing a wheelchair. Things just weren’t going right for us.
Then when we finally moved to Brewerton, over 2 years ago, my daughter-in-law was familiar with the PACE program and encouraged me to consider joining the program. I’m glad I considered it. It was the best decision and has really improved my life. I have never felt so good.
The clinic monitors my health quite closely. I work very hard in physical therapy and in occupational therapy and now can walk without any assistance. I am feeling so much happier and think of PACE as ‘my happy place’. I really enjoy my girlfriends here and look forward to coming into the Day Center. I participate in the Walking Club and the Be Well Group.
My wife Linda has really turned her life around through PACE. It is so nice to see her smiling more. I joined PACE about six months after Linda. I also work with the physical therapists on my walking and am much stronger. I like doing the activities with the Men’s Club and the conversation at the men’s table. This afternoon, for example, the classic cars are coming to the Day Center for us to see.
John is 72yo and I am 66y. We live in our own house with the assist of a home health aide who helps us with showering. We are out of the house on a regular basis now and we both have many friends at the Day Center. The PACE program has really enriched our lives and made us stronger together as a couple. We look forward to the years ahead of us with PACE by our side.
